What is Vollio?
Vollio is an AI speaking practice app for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Set a role and a place, and the story unfolds stage by stage. Type or speak to AI characters in the language you're learning, drop in English for words you don't know, and see a more natural way to say every line.
Can I use Vollio as a beginner?
Yes, beginners can use it. If you can piece together a few words, you can start. There are five levels, starting from Beginner at around 500 words, and AI characters talk at your level. You can also drop in English for any word you can't think of.
How is Vollio different from practicing with ChatGPT?
To practice speaking with ChatGPT, you write the prompts and find the topics yourself. Vollio sets up the scene and the tasks for you, AI characters talk at your level, and every line comes with a more natural version and an explanation. All you have to do is reply.
How does Vollio correct my mistakes?
Vollio never interrupts the conversation, and AI characters just keep chatting. Every line has expression tips beside it: open them to see a more natural way to say it, a translation, and a grammar explanation. You can also play lifelike AI audio to compare with your own pronunciation, and slow it down to 0.5x or 0.75x for shadowing.
Is Vollio free? Is it on Android?
Vollio is free during beta. We'll announce plans and pricing once they're final. It's currently available on iOS only, as a free download on the App Store. The new Vollio is launching soon.
